William Levy

Dr. William B Levy founded Informed Simplifications in 2005 with a former student and is currently the sole owner. Dr. Levy's vision for Informed Simplifications is to apply cutting-edge brain theory to medical problems.

Dr. Levy holds a Ph.D. in Psychobiology from the University of California, Irvine and received an A.B. in Psychology from Princeton University. Dr. Levy is a professor the Departments of Neurosurgery and Psychology at the University of Virginia. He co-discovered synaptic LTD and the spike-timing rule of synaptic modification. For this he received the Hebb Award from the International Neural Network Society. Dr. Levy has also developed a quantitative model of hippocampal CA3 computation, and he introduced energy-optimized computation and communication as a way of understanding evolved brain function.
